What I learned in a major step toward my dreams

1. Persistence.

"You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take." -Michael Scott (Wayne Gretzky).

It's true, though. If you never shoot, you never score. None of this came over night. I gave up hundreds of times, but in the end, I kept following my heart... and it worked.

2. Say no.

In the process of making a change in my life and career path, I was presented with many opportunities that I was forced to turn down. Some I sought out, thinking they were what I wanted, but luckily, I listened to my gut and (gasp) persisted in following my true dreams. It wasn't easy to say no to wonderful life paths, and often I questioned my choices and let's be honest, my entire existence— but I somehow always remembered: keep your eye on the prize.

3. Patience.

I'm the worst with this. I want it all now. As most of us do. But this one, this required patience. As do most good things in life. Remain patient and persevere if it's what you truly want my friends.

4. Stay true to you.

See number 2. Also turn off your social media and human wired-for-comparison brain. It's wrong.

5. Walk away.

Life is short, which is why you should take this advice and follow your heart. But, life is also long. When the time is right, walk away from this season of life and into your new one. It's not easy, but (I think) it's worth it.

6. You don't know what you got...

Leaving a life full of blessings and wonderful humans is hard. I spent the last few years in my home taking it for granted and living in the future. Now I see that I am one of the luckiest people in the world, and though I do not regret my years of not appreciating it to the fullest, because it has taught me a great lesson — I also now realize that I will (should) never do that again.

7. Things happen for a reason. Trust.

In my book, (lol), you will read about how everything and I mean everything, happens for a reason. Keep that faith yo.

8. Don't be dumb.

Everyone is in different situations when following their dreams. Do it how it's right for you. If you can't leave to Thailand tomorrow, maybe don't leave for Thailand tomorrow. Again, life is short... but life is also long. Be strategic, you guys.

9. Accept your fear, and manage your fear.

Be strategic, but also know when it's time to say, "fear, I appreciate you, but I'm going to do what I want now."

10. Work hard.

Happiness is a privilege not a promise. Learn that and live that.

11. Let go and let be.

The day I learned to let go and let myself be, is the day something came to fruition. Live your answers instead of searching for your answers. Accept that your many questions remain unanswered. Let go.
