BFFL

BFFL. Best friends for life.

Do those even exist? Yeah, they do.

I am fortunate enough to have friends that I have had since kindergarten, high school, this year— friends that I don't necessarily talk to each day, week, or month, but it's okay, because I don't need to. Friends that make me feel grounded and give me a sense of home with just one look.

The people in my life are incredible, both those that have been in my life for a long time and those more recent, this being one of the reasons I continue to write— I am truly inspired by the people in my life. I am inspired by their goals, their thoughts, their experiences and their accomplishments.

My oldest friends, though, they create something for me that no one else can, that no one else should be able to. Because our oldest friends are the ones that were there for the awkward stage, the ones that were friends with us when no one else was, the ones that have been friends with us for nearly 22 years, and the ones that chose to accept all of our flaws a long time ago.

They know us as we always were, they still love us anyway. They know when we're genuinely happy, they know when we're putting up a front. They genuinely care about our lives, what we're doing and where we're going.

They give us a warm sense of nostalgia, a reminder that unconditional and infinite love does in fact exist.

And, lucky for me, they are all thriving. They are all coming into their own. They are all finding their niches. They are all happy.

Doctors, lawyers, engineers, (one writer)— we are all on our way. We are all making it. We are all still friends, we are all going to be for life.
